The 2021 RAM 1500 TRX Has Entered The Arena

The 2021 RAM 1500 TRX is here, redefining the boundaries of what a pickup truck can be. The TRX is both a performance truck and an off-road truck, designed to keep you in command of all 702 horses across ever-changing terrain. Restricted to just 702 vehicles, the TRX launch edition represents the most exclusive version of the ultimate performance truck.

Plenty Of Power

The 702 horsepower RAM 1500 TRX has entered the area! It has been strategically designed to compete with the upcoming 2021 Ford F-150 Raptor to be the best high-performance pick-up truck. With an extra eight inches of overall width, massive 35-inch tire, and a menacing stance the TRX is the most muscular truck to leave RAM’s factory. Below the scooped hood sits a legendary supercharged 6.2-liter Hemi V8. More specifically known as the Hellcat engine, this specific version produces 702 horsepower and 650 lb-ft torque. The TRX has a claimed 0-60 mph time of 4.5 seconds which is hugely impressive for any pickup.

Featuring a massive airbox, the high-performance air induction system filters four times as much dirt and debris than the Ford Raptor, all while consuming up to 32.9 liters of air per minute!

Pulling a substantial amount the TRX has a maximum towing capacity of 8,100 pounds (100 more than the F-150 Ford Raptor) and is able to carry up to 1310 pounds of payload (120 more than the Ford). The TRX will also offer Trailer Reverse Steer Control. Unlike Ford’s similar Pro Trailer Backup Assist, RAM’s solution can automatically sense the trailer length. This makes for a much more user-friendly experience for the driver.

Pricing

No other pick-up truck makes 700+ horsepower right out of the gate so we can expect to see the base price start just north of $71,000. While the base version is well-equipped, it lacks some features that would be expected to come standard. Unfortunately you’re going to have to upgrade to get that heated steering wheel and heated seats. The level 1 package upgrade pushes the RAM 1500 TRX past 75K but packs a punch with some major upgrades. Highlights include leather-trimmed seats, cargo-box lighting, a flat-bottom steering wheel wrapped in leather and microsuede, a storage compartment under the rear seat, and much, much more! Also available is a Trailer-Tow package to maximize the pickup’s trailering capabilities. Those who are looking for the ultimate TRX package will have to upgrade to level 2 which puts the TRX close to $80,000 and comes with a suite of driver-assistance features.

It’s All In The Details

The RAM 1500 TRX is offered as a crew cab only with a short cargo bed. Intimidating bodywork, a bed-mounted spare tire carrier, body-colored bead lock capable wheels, and an abundance of other off-road surprises make this beast the most radical RAM.

The TRX is the first RAM truck to be equipped with Launch Control with Launch Assist. Regulating engine RPM and monitoring wheel slip feedback it sets the stage to give you the fastest possible acceleration rate. Impressive and intimidating the TRX is a machine that adapts at your command with nine performance-tuned drive modes for on- and off-road excursions. Drive modes include sport, snow, custom, mud/sand, and rock mode.

The 35-inch Goodyear Wrangler Territory All Terrain tires were developed specifically for the TRX and it’s extreme off-road capability. With traction-focused tread and beadlock-cabability sidewalls, they’re guaranteed to leave a lasting impression on more than just the road. The rubber found under the high performance pickup offers exceptional performance in wet, dusty, and muddy terrain. RAM engineers also beefed up the standard 1500’s pickup frame infusing it with higher-strength steel and strategically thicker, heavier rails.

The TRX features an integrated air intake ensuring that the cleanest possible air enters the supercharger and keeps this beast moving forward.

Interior

The 2021 TRX is also loaded with a luxurious interior packed with premium materials, uncommon refinement, and all the latest technology.

The interior of the base model TRX is similar to that of the RAM 1500 Rebel which comes with cloth upholstery and standard equipment. The optional TR1 and TR2 packages upgrade the TRX cabin to feel significantly snazzier with leather-covered surfaces, and a mix of micro-suede and carbon fiber accents. Top options for the TRX include an all-new available HUD (Head Up Display) projects an array of customizable information on the windshield, a digital rear-view mirror, and heated and ventilated front seats.

Vertically mounted in the middle of the dashboard on every TRX is a 12.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system.

The infotainment system features Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, built-in navigation, and SiriusXM Satellite Radio. The display can de divided into separate menus to allow multiple applications to run simultaneously with physical knobs and buttons surrounding the screen for more intuitive control. Also available is the 900-watt Harman Kardon Premium Audio System which boasts 19 speakers and features exclusive materials only found in the TRX.

Safety

Fuel economy ratings for the TRX have yet to be announced by RAM or the EPA. An estimated fuel economy rating of 12 MPG and city and 18 MPG highway are anticipated. RAM stocks it’s mightiest pick-up with available driver-assistance technology. Key available features include:
