When Nissan came up with the new design for the 2019 Altima, their goal was to raise the competitive bar to a whole new level for the midsize sedan market. Now that is no easy task to achieve, by any means. But I would say that they succeeded.

The Nissan Intelligent Mobility vision to redefine how cars are driven, powered and integrated into society was a major force in what the 2019 Altima would actually be. Therefore, one of the first things Nissan wanted to do was improve the 2019 Altima’s safety features. They accomplished this by making Nissan Safety Shield 360 standard on every level 2019 Nissan Altima.

Nissan Safety Shield 360 is a group of advanced driver assist safety features which include Automatic Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection, radar-based Blind Spot Warning (BSW), Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA), Lane Departure Warning (LDW), High Beam Assist(HBA), Rear Automatic Braking and Rear Door Alert (RDA). Convenience and Technology

NissanConnect® with Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™ are now also standard on all 2019 Nissan Altima models. Other notable interior comfort and convenience features also include a standard 8-way power driver’s seat with added bolstering for improved holding and support. Additionally, the new 2019 Nissan Altima also includes a variety of audio and infotainment options. Included in these is an available Bose® Premium Audio system with nine speakers, and a new digital amplifier with eight channels of custom equalization. Turn up the volume people!

Expressive Design

The 2019 Altima is lower, longer, and wider than the previous generation. It serves up a highly balanced and aggressive stance that includes available 19-inch wheels and tires. Inside, the all-new premium interior features a wide “gliding wing” instrument panel – which accentuates the exterior’s low cowl and hood, helping create an open, airy environment.

No. No, it is not. At least not in my opinion. You can think whatever you want.

Does a 2019 Altima Really Come with All-Wheel Drive?

Yes, you read that correctly. The 2019 Nissan Altima comes with all-wheel drive! This will be the first time ever that Nissan has offered an all-wheel drive sedan in the United States. It is available in five different trim levels – S, SR, SV, SL and Platinum.

This all-wheel drive transmission is paired with a new 2.5-liter DOHC inline 4-cylinder direct injection engine that is standard on all 2019 Altima trim levels. It is rated at 188 horsepower compared to the previous Altima’s 2.5-liter design which produced 179 horsepower. This new powerplant also produces more torue at 180 lb-ft versus 177. More than just the gains in horsepower and torque, the new engine is also more refined. Overall, the 2019 Nissan Altima is much quieter and also offers improved fuel economy over previous Altima designs.

But wait, there’s more.

Can you get 2019 Nissan Altima Come with Turbo?

You sure can! The Altima SR and Platinum grades are available with the advanced 2.0-liter VC-Turbo engine, however, it is only on front-wheel drive models. Yes, I was super excited too when I heard the words all-wheel drive, Turbo, and Altima, but we can’t have our cake and eat it too. That will just have to be something we keep our fingers crossed for in the future.

This engine is replacing the previous-generation Altima’s 3.5-liter V6. Nissan calls it the VC-Turbo, and it is the company’s first production-ready variable compression turbo inline 4-cylinder.

The VC-Turbo engine delivers near V6-level performance with 4-cylinder fuel efficiency. Seamlessly changing its compression ratio between 8:1 (for high performance) and 14:1 (for high efficiency), this new Altima engine delivers 248 horsepower and 280 lb-ft of torque when running on premium fuel.
