Blauvelt, New York – Lia Toyota of Rockland donated $10,000 to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Rockland County and $10,000 to Rockland Independent Living Center dba BRIDGES.

General Manager John Vitro presented a check to each of the organizations on May 4th 4:00pm at Lia Toyota of Rockland, located at 618 Route 303, Blauvelt, New York. The money donated to Big Brothers Big Sisters is going towards their Court Ordered Visitation Program, and money donated to BRIDGES is going towards their Veteran Transportation Program.

Operating as Rockland’s premier mentoring organization for over 36 years and an official New York State multi- social service organization, a national gold standard award winner and 8 times NYS Better Business Bureau accredited, charitable non-profit, BBBS functions as a county contract agency including management of the Supervised Court Ordered Visitation Program which this  past year has seen an enormous increase in alcohol, substance and domestic violence abuse due to the stress that Covid-19 has brought and the organization is in dire need of help due to its three court approved expanded visitation service areas.

BRIDGES is a community based, cross disability, non-for-profit organization dedicated to the advocacy and services for people with disabilities. They provide peer counseling, independent living skills training, transition support and more. In addition to the $10,000, Lia also provides a van year-round to transport Veterans to their medical appointments at Montrose and Castle Point.
