LIA AUTO GROUP ANNOUNCES EXPANSION: WELCOMES CHRYSLER JEEP DODGE RAM
COLONIE, NY - The Lia Auto Group, which will include 17 dealerships in New York, Massachusetts and Connecticut, is pleased to announce plans to add Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram to the current roster of twelve vehicle brands. A temporary facility is scheduled to open in September 2012 at the existing Lia Collision Center located at 2116 Central Avenue in Colonie.
"We are excited about the Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram brands," said Michael Lia of the Lia Auto Group. "The existing models - with the many improvements in this and previous years across the four brands show growth and promise. We were impressed with the direction of their vehicle strategy and we feel that they will continue to be strong players in the American automotive market."
Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram acknowledged the Lia Auto Group's request and awarded the group a letter of intent on May 2, 2012. The new facility will be located just east of the current Lia Toyota Colonie location. Included in the proposed dealership plans is an expansion of the parking lot in the front e¬ast corner of the property, as well as the possible inclusion of a parking deck. Parking will also be expanded in the rear lot of Lia Toyota.
"This new dealership will open in a temporary showroom with a full time staff of around 20 people," Lia explained. "Once the new facility opens in 2013, we expect a full time staff of over 40 people."
This acquisition coincides with Lia Auto Group's addition of a new Kia franchise in Northampton, MA, as well as a robust renovation of the existing Hyundai dealership in Hartford, CT. The Lia Group was founded in 1977 by William Lia Sr. He is joined by his three sons Michael, Bill and Vincent, in running the company. They employ over 750 people region wide. Other manufacturers include Honda, Toyota, Scion, Nissan, Infiniti, Hyundai, Volkswagen and Kia.
